REMEC Announces $4.7M F/A-22 Radar LRIP Award from Northrop Grumman

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2003--REMEC, Inc. (Nasdaq: REMC) today announced that it has been awarded subcontracts for a total of $4.7M from Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) for the F/A-22 United States Air Force (USAF) Raptor fighter program in support of the AN/APG-77 Fire Control Radar System. Under these subcontracts, REMEC will deliver 49 different types of filters and modular integrated microwave assemblies in support of the F/A-22 Radar Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) program. REMEC is scheduled to begin shipments in 2004 and scheduled to complete deliveries in 2005.

The new F/A-22 Raptor is the planned USAF replacement aircraft for the currently deployed F-15 Eagle air superiority fighter, providing a revolutionary leap in technology and mission capability. The AN/APG-77 Radar system provides F/A-22 pilots with unprecedented capability, allowing the pilot to track and shoot at multiple threats prior to detection by the adversary. The new solid-state radar antenna technology provides a leap ahead of currently operational radar standards of reliability. Over 280 F/A-22 production aircraft are planned for procurement over the next decade with over 1,000 subcontractors in over 40 states supporting this effort.

"We are proud to supply our integrated microwave technology for the advanced F/A-22 Radar as a key supplier to Northrop Grumman," stated Jack A. Giles, president of REMEC Defense & Space.

This work will be performed by the REMEC Defense & Space Group with headquarters located in San Diego, California. The REMEC Defense & Space Group employs over 1,000 people developing and producing advanced microwave products for defense and avionics systems for radar, electronic warfare, communication, navigation and identification systems.
